Revolutionizing Two-Wheelers: Ola Electric Launches Roadster Motorcycle Series



Ola Group, the ride-hailing giant turned electric mobility powerhouse, has officially entered the electric motorcycle segment with the launch of three new models, with two more in the pipeline. Announced at their annual launch event, Sankalp 2024, Ola Electric's latest offerings are part of the Roadster range, which includes the Roadster X, Roadster, and Roadster Pro. Prices for these models start at Rs 74,999 for the Roadster X, Rs 1,04,999 for the Roadster, and Rs 1,99,999 for the Roadster Pro. Deliveries are set to begin in Q4 FY25, with the Roadster Pro slated for delivery starting in Q4 FY26.


A Strategic Move into Motorcycles

During the launch event, Ola Founder Bhavish Aggarwal highlighted the strategic importance of entering the motorcycle segment, noting that motorcycles currently make up two-thirds of India’s two-wheeler market. This move positions Ola Electric to significantly expand its presence in the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) market.

Roadster X: Redefining Entry-Level Electric Motorcycles

The Roadster X is set to revolutionize the entry-level electric motorcycle segment with its impressive performance and thrilling ride experience. The bike features a peak motor output of 11 kW, making it the fastest in its class. It comes in three battery variants: 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh, with the top variant achieving 0-40 kmph in just 2.8 seconds. The Roadster X boasts a top speed of 124 kmph and a range of 200 km on its highest variant. It also features a Combi Braking System (CBS) with disc brakes at the front and advanced brake-by-wire technology, ensuring a safe and smooth ride.

Riders can choose from three riding modes—Sports, Normal, and Eco—while the 4.3-inch LCD segment display, powered by MoveOS 5, offers a suite of digital features. These include Ola Maps Navigation (Turn by Turn), advanced regeneration, cruise control, Riding Modes, DIY Mode, TPMS alerts, OTA updates, and more. The motorcycle also comes with Digital Key Unlock and connectivity via the Ola Electric App.

Pricing for the Roadster X:

  • 2.5 kWh variant: Rs 74,999
  • 3.5 kWh variant: Rs 84,999
  • 4.5 kWh variant: Rs 99,999

Deliveries are expected to start in the fourth quarter of the current financial year.


Roadster: Dominating the Commuter Segment

The Roadster is designed to be the fastest motorcycle in the commuter segment, powered by a 13 kW motor. It is available in 3.5 kWh, 4.5 kWh, and 6 kWh battery variants, with the 6 kWh variant accelerating from 0-40 kmph in just 2 seconds. The Roadster offers a top speed of 126 kmph and an impressive range of 248 km, making it a top contender in its class.

This model features four riding modes—Hyper, Sports, Normal, and Eco—and is equipped with a 6.8-inch TFT touchscreen powered by MoveOS 5. It offers advanced smart features like proximity unlock, cruise control, party mode, tamper alert, and AI-powered tools such as the Krutrim Assistant, smartwatch app, and road trip planner. Safety is enhanced with disc brakes at both the front and rear, supported by advanced single-channel ABS with cornering ABS and brake-by-wire technology.

Pricing for the Roadster:

  • 3.5 kWh variant: Rs 1,04,999
  • 4.5 kWh variant: Rs 1,19,999
  • 6 kWh variant: Rs 1,39,999

Deliveries for the Roadster are also expected to begin in the fourth quarter of the current financial year.


Roadster Pro: The Pinnacle of Performance and Technology

The Roadster Pro represents the peak of performance and innovation in Ola Electric’s motorcycle lineup. Powered by a motor with a peak output of 52 kW and 105 Nm torque, the Roadster Pro's 16 kWh variant can accelerate from 0-40 kmph in just 1.2 seconds and reach 0-60 kmph in 1.9 seconds, with a top speed of 194 kmph. The bike offers an IDC-certified range of 579 km, making it the fastest and most efficient motorcycle in its class.

This model is equipped with a 10-inch TFT touchscreen, USD forks, two-channel switchable ABS with disc brakes at the front and rear, and features four riding modes—Hyper, Sport, Normal, and Eco—along with two DIY modes. The Roadster Pro also introduces advanced digital tech features with the upcoming MoveOS 5 update, including ADAS, three-level traction control, integrated ride modes (Race, Urban, Rain & Off-road), and access controls such as geofencing and timefencing.

The MoveOS 6 update will further enhance the Roadster Pro with advanced race-track features like Race Mode, Anti-Wheely, and Stoppie modes, solidifying its position as a cutting-edge electric motorcycle.

Pricing for the Roadster Pro:

  • 8 kWh variant: Rs 1,99,999
  • 16 kWh variant: Rs 2,49,999

Deliveries for the Roadster Pro are slated to start in the fourth quarter of FY26.

With these launches, Ola Electric is set to make a significant impact on the electric motorcycle market, offering a diverse range of options that cater to various rider needs and preferences.
